Extreme freezes follow by Bluescreen
Well, hey again!
Last time I was here was like.. a year ago or something. I then had problems with bluescreens. They stopped for a while, like half a year+, and reappeared now when I put my computer back together. It's the exact same stuff as before, except a new GPU and it's in a new Antec Twelvehundred case, for better cooling.
So, basicly it's the same hardware in a new case with the exception of the GPU.
The new GPU is an ASUS Geforce 580. There is no problems with this card, and I'm SURE of it. As the old one gave me really bad bluescreens and other color screens as well, and those problems are gone since I swapped.
Another thing of importance is that my computer seem to feed on off of hard drives. And with that I mean, it kills them. I had not 1, not 2, but 3 hard drives of the same brand my brother has, and his has lasted for over a year. It's a SEAGATE Barracuda 7200.1 1 TB, basicly a standard seagate of 1 TB.
So, to get down to the problems I had before I tried to get a replacement for my motherboard (I'm suspecting it to be the problem).
Before I had this setup, my network connection with fail for no reason at random times, just after booting, or when having a lot of network activity for a somewhat longer period. This is resolved by simply activating and reactivating. No other way works because it simply says "No network cable connected." but finds it again after what I described. Sometimes that won't work though, so I have to actually reconnect the cable before activating again. And yes, I've tried different cables.
Second problem was that my SATA 6-GB ports seem to be broken. They can't detect stuff connected to it. I had my hard drives there at first but I changed after it couldn't boot my OS.
Third problem would be how it consumes my drives. I mean, it's a really annoying thing to have to buy new ones and backup etc... Imagine my frustration.
This setup I'm currently at now is using the same hard drive model but with 2 TB. It has never been booted before, it was brand new. I put the computer together, and just 2 days after my computer acts as if it will crash, as it had done 3 times before. Extreme loading times, clicking sound from HDD, and it takes ages to switch between folders if they aren't in the memory already. This sounds typical for a HDD crash for me, but I want to ask you guys before. It is followed by a bluescreen most often but sometimes it just stops and I can use the computer again for hours before it reappearing.
The strangest part is that this only happens when almost being idle. I can play Battlefield Bad Company 2 for hours and hours without even a hint of problems. The first appearance was today (installed it two days ago) and I was just watching a movie as the movie froze so I started to look around what was wrong, and then all this happened. This is starting to look like a wall of text now.. blaah.
So, my system would be this:
Windows 7 Home prem. SP1 (barely managed to install, because of all windows update problems)
Intel i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz
ASUS P6X58D Premium (faulty, if you ask me)
RAM - think it's corsair or kingston, pretty standard, 6 Gb
ASUS GeForce 580
PSU XFX @ 650 W - I think
SEAGATE BARRACUDA XT 7200RPM @ 2 TB
GPU runs at 29-39 degrees celcuis in idle mode, and when playing any game (ALL settings to the fullest), it's around 60-70 degrees. Now, I don't know if that is actually true, I'm using some gadget only, but it seems right... or the games settings haven't applied correctly. Whatever, the degrees are okey.
CPU I don't know of at the moment but they used to be around 40-80 in idle-stress respectively, but I have a new and I hope better cooler now which I hope is cooling it better. It used to get up to 100 degrees.
Now if you want to me control the CPU temp I'll do that right away just in case anyway. So if you ask I'll have the info ready.
If I have forgotten any information, please tell me. And I know, I haven't uploaded any dumps. It's because they don't give me any dumps. Windows doesn't even know it crashed upon boot again. Usually it says all that crap about not closing correctly etc. Anyways, please I need help with this. I need to know that the motherboard is the problem because I have kind of switched all the other parts and it all comes down to this... bluescreens and what not. I want something to prove to ASUS that they will have to help me, as they refuse at the moment as they can't see this when they test it, apparently.
EDIT: Just to add more to the HDD theory. I am currently downloading via peer to peer and it gave me a disk write error...
