    BSOD Issues

FYI, this is one of my desktops, not my laptop listed in my profile. It's an HP Pavilion a6347c.

    - x64
    - Original OS was Vista 32-bit. I formatted and did a full install to 7 Pro 64.
    - Full Retail
    - What is the age of system (hardware)? - Approx. 3.5 to 4 years.
    - What is the age of OS installation - Approx. 1.5 years.

Also, installed a D-Link (approx. 7 years old) wireless network card approx. 6 months ago. I uninstalled that approx. 3 months ago, as well as uninstalled the device manager hardware listings, as well. The BSOD's seemed to slow down or stop after that.

Today, I also uninstalled MagicISO, the driver, and any references to it, as I saw where that has caused a lot of BSOD issues, as well.

Last, I noticed the System Health Report states I do not have any anti-virus program installed. I do have Windows Security Essentials, and my Security center shows that it is on and up to date.

Thanks for any and all help in advance!

    Regards,

    Two problems

First 5 year old wanat64.sys driver (AOL?)

Second these were Related to SCMNdisP.sys NDIS User mode I/O Driver from Windows (R) Codename Longhorn DDK provider. I would rremove at least to test. Yours from 2007, it cant possibly work in win 7.

    Thank you!

After researching, the SCMNdisP.sys driver is for the WNDA3100v2 N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter, and it is installed with the Netgear's included or website software. However, the Windows Update feature has the software/driver package for this adapter, but it does NOT include the SCMNdisP.sys driver (Microsoft is obviously on to something, ha). See here:

    Microsoft Update Catalog

There's several posts out on the various forums with this info. See here for one:

Sorry MS update catalog requires IE and I wouldn't be caught dead running it, the other link does mention the problem. I am assuming there are no updates or alternatives correct?

Actually, I fixed (oops, I mean "rectified" - sorry, I'm from Alabama, lol) the situation by removing the SCMNdisP.sys driver. Open the Network and Sharing Center on the taskbar, click on "Change adapter settings", right-click the "Wireless Network Connection", hit "Properties", then click on "General NDIS Protocol Driver" and select "Uninstall". Proceed with the uninstall, restart the computer, then remove references to it in the Device Manager ("View, Show hidden devices"), then look under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers". Also, make sure that SCMNdisP.sys is removed from the driver folder.

The other option, and in regards to you not running IE, what one could try is disconnect the Netgear USB adapter, uninstall the present drivers/software, reconnect the adapter, then locate and right-click the device in the Device Manager, go to the "Driver" tab, then "Update Driver...", and then "Search automatically for updated driver software", and let Windows download and install it from Windows Update. This will install the Netgear software without the SCMNdisP.sys driver.

Thanks for all your help, and I hope that I'm able to help back, as well.
