Random BSOD, no minidump, device verifier causing boot hang

    Greetings:

Windows 7 x64, full-retail installed ~10 months ago (clean install, not upgrade). Has run fine until 2-3 weeks ago when random BSOD's began. BSOD sometimes occur several in a row within minutes, sometimes go days in between. They occur with light CPU usage - including just surfing the web or using outlook email.

Pardon me for not following protocol of including my dump files. Although my blue screen suggests one is being created, the minidump folder is empty (hidden files are set to visible). The folder has a lock icon on it - is that normal? I can save a new .txt file into the folder just like any other folder.

I tried the driver verifier tool following the instructions posted here. Checking everything except microsoft devices (including unknowns, and a few labeled Windows(r)). This caused start-up routine to hang at the glowing, four-colored window "windows is starting" screen. Had to disable verifier in safe mode.

No hardware changes before these BSOD's began. I note a number of windows updates have been made in this time span, including MS Office 2010 SP1, and Net framework 4, which seem closest in time to when problem began. Also, running zonealarm security suite (paid version) with somewhat earlier upgrade to version 10 a couple of weeks before BSOD's began.

So, without a .dmp file to analyze, or ability to run verifier.... what should I try next? Would running the dump tool posted on this site still be useful for you experts without the minidump file? I did run perfmon, and it showed no problems. I also ran sfc, again no problems noted.

System is homebuilt with Asus mobo, Intel i7-950, 6 x 2gb DDR3 ram and Asus GTX460 video. Using a Crucial SSD for boot drive. Since BSOD's began, I have updated nVidia drivers and firmware for the SSD (which caused Win7 to load (reload?) driver for the SSD). All "important" windows updates were made before problem began, and I think there's been one more since. All show "successful" installation. I also checked for dust accumulation inside the box, and (other than the intake filter) found essentially none.

I follow instructions well, and am somewhat tech-savvy. Let me know how I can help you to help me.

    Best Regards.

Update.... It appears System Protection was set to log a memory.dmp instead of minidump (but didn't appear to do that either). I have changed that setting. Can't wait for another BSOD to see results!

Uploading the result of jcgriff tool and perfmon.
