    multiple BSOD ntoskrnl.exe


    -Windows 7 64bit
    -original os windows vista
    -full retail version
    -2008 hp pavilion
    -windows 7 installed in 2011 after upgraded hard-drive and some other goodies
    The computer was given to me by a friend who had no more use for it but decided to upgrade it before he did. I'm not sure how it was running before but i was soon to find out that it gets a lot of BOD's. Was planning to use it for school and don't have any money to buy a new one so any help would be appreciated Thanks!

    Hello,

    Start by flashing the latest BIOS for the machine, found here: Napa-GL8E Motherboard BIOS Update HP Pavilion a6500f Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

    Your Broadcom wireless adapter drivers were blamed multiple times. Unfortunately, HP has not released updated ones on their site, but you can probably get away with installing ones from another manufacturer. Dell has some here: Drivers and Downloads

    More than likely, the Dell installer will error out as it realizes you do not have a Dell card. However, if you cancel the installer after the files have finished extracting, you can then manually install the drivers using Device Manager. Enter "devmgmt.msc" into the start menu, right-click on the wireless adapter, and select "update driver software". Select "Browse my computer...", and choose the location the drivers were extracted to. By default, the extraction will take place in C:\dell\drivers\R258276.
