Windows 7: dxgmms1.sys BSoD several times a day

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
dxgmms1.sys BSoD several times a day

Hello everybody!

About two weeks ago, I received my new computer, and, since then, I have been dealing with Blue Screens of Death several times a day, mainly while playing games like Crysis Warhead and The Witcher 2. The computer is, in fact, a 27" iMac, but I run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit through Boot Camp. The stop error that I receive in BSoDs can vary, but the last time I got one (about half an hour ago) it showed the 0x0000003B stop error. This thing is pulling out my nerves, because I really do not know what to do! I already cleaned my drivers and reinstalled them with no apparent result... Any help would be greatly appreciated; my PC is only two weeks old and has been giving me problems since day one.

System Specifications:
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit (Full Retail; as Apple Boot Camp required me to install a Windows OS. It is the "original" Windows version of Boot Camp, though. Has never been replaced or changed)
- Intel Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz
- 8GB of RAM Memory
- AMD Radeon HD 6970m 1GB

Thanks in advance.

Already have them both updated... Could a hardware problem be causing BSoDs on my PC?

Yes any hardware issue can. How old is the video card? You could try pulling the card and reseating it in the slot..but this is something that has been on my mind with the ati catalyst suite that is not really necessary and those extra services can cause issues themselves. So I would uninstall everything except the display driver itself and I would think that the issue may go away,

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Thank you very much for your help. I did what you said; uninstalled everything but the display drivers. However, I just got another BSoD, this time with the atikmdag.sys error message
Attached the .dmp file.

OK Pollo what we want to do is download just the driver and thats it from ati not the suite or anything else. After you have just the driver we want to download driver sweeper and completely remove all traces of the catalyst software on the system.

Driver Sweeper: - Driver Sweeper download the installer and install it and reboot the computer into safemode without networking. Once to the desktop in safemode open driver sweeper and check the box for AMD and click analyze and then click clean after that is will ask you to reboot. Go ahead and reboot in normal mode, everything on the desktop will be huge now because no driver is installed. Anyway go and install the driver itself that you downloaded the basis for which I do this:

Here is a possible solution to the ATIKMDAG.SYS Driver Crash issue that has plagued so many people. The following is from one of the M$ Newsgroups on the issue, from someone who actually took the time to sit down and test it.

Part of the way down the page at the link below, there is a post from a user Level5Owner, who says the issue is with the Catalyst Control Center itself, not the drivers.

Let me know if this helps anyone.
I'm going to try when I get home tonight and see if it works. Here is his post.

Just got another BSoD, this time as soon as I quit Crysis... It was different, though. It showed the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION error.
