    Desktop freeze, and keybinding failure

Greetings... Allow me to firstly saying this isn't a gaming issue so please don't discard it after reading the first line or 2.

I've recently encountered an issue with my computer as of 2 days ago, i was playing CoD.. and my sprint button wouldn't work.. and my grenade button was going spas... now, i thought perhaps resetting key bindings to default would work and it didn't so i then restarted my computer, logged in.. and my desktop wouldn't allow me to open up any shortcuts on my desktop, nor would it allow me to access the start menu, or move icons.. my mouse became non-responsive (everytime i click a minimized window or say log onto steam, i'd use the mouse to select the window and it would stay behind another 2 folders) and i couldn't select the password box to login). Oddly enough i ended up having to alt tab into applications in order to use them. Now here is the weird part, when i control alt+delete the mouse seems to work fine, i then select task manager and as soon as it gets to the desktop it starts playing up again. I've tried ending DWM.exe and it helps with the mouse being able to select alternate windows, but as to moving folders and accessing the start menu it still doesn't work, and the CoD bindings are still failing. I've ran avast, cleared my internet cache and cookies ect.. defraged my computer and i also downloaded the latest W7 update last night and it's still failing. I've unfortunatly haven't made a restore point so i can't run system restore.. i'm thinking about giving the system repair a go and if not.. ultimatley re-install windows.. which is unfortunate, cause i just spent the passed 2-3 months organising and updating my games. My computer is relativley new.. here is the specs

    Processor: Intel Core i5 - 2400 CPU 3.10ghz
    RAM: 8g
    Motherboard: P8 H61
    GXF card: GeForce GTX580
OS: Windows seven home premium 64bit

Update: Just Finished a re-installing Windows 7 and problem still exists... oddly enough the desktop lock dissappears when ever i end the process on any non particular program.... sounds like a hardware issue, but is there any thing i should still try and do before i take it back to the company that built my computer for me and use my warranty... cause no doubt they'll try and shaft me anyway they can with there warranty policies or blame it on a software issue
