    BSOD Driver Power State Failure

I am getting these "driver power state failure" crashes with increasing frequency. I suspect it's a driver conflict involving my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra (music recording interface), which is connected via USB.

My computer is an HP 671-340US notebook, bought in June or July 2010, with Windows 7 Home Premium (and a whole bunch of HP bloatware!) already installed. I have eliminated some of the HP crap because it constantly interrupted my work, and shut down my computer right in the middle of what I was doing, if I missed the message balloon. Don't know if that contriubuted to the problem. I updated all the drivers and Win7 yesterday and today. Crashed again this morning. No hardware upgrades; using it the way it came.

I have attached all the system specs and diagnostics reports you requested.

If I missed anything, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi charlie and welcome.

You are of course correct about M-audio. It is blamed. It may be conflicting with one of the older drivers installed. I would update both M-audio and these old drivers. Some of these drivers including y our raid driver is from as far back as 2005.

    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

    Hello Charlie,

I had the same problem with my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra driver.

Because M-Audio (now Avid) don't care , and because they won't release a fix, I coded a small utility that will stop/start Windows Audio Services on Suspend/Resume events, so the BSOD won't occur anymore.

You can find links to x86 or x64 binaries (or to source code) here: M-Audio Driver Monitor « Computer stuff

    Hope it helps !

    Damien
