Consistent BSOD, BCCode d1

I have been having consistent BSODs on two of my Win7 64bit systems. Will focus on one system at a time

This one is a Lenovo X201 laptop with OEM install of OS. To the best of my knowledge, the OS is uptodate as are all drivers. ESET Smart Security 4.2 is installed.

I appreciate your assistance.

Then upload the dumps again according to the

win 7 64BIT

Thanks, Seth...

I had suspected that ESET might be a problem, as it was one of the few things that were installed on both systems which had BSOD problems.

Yesterday, I uninstalled ESET on the laptop. Did not have any BSOD problems since. This AM, I did the same on the desktop....again, no BSODs since.

The good news, I guess, is that I do not have any logs to post (even though I did do the driver "traps" you recommended on the laptop).

The bad news.....where do I go from here? Is MS Firewall and Security robust enough? Should I try to reinstall ESET? Any other recommendation?

Thanks again....John

No dont install ESET again that will just bring the issues back again I can assure you. A lot of people on this forum like the avast free or comodo free seem to have the best compatibility for Windows 7 and people really like them or if you want to spend the money for the extra protection you get also get their suites if you wish but always try the trial first and give it a full run before you buy anything so that you can see if their compatible. Also Norton has great reviews and I have used it on my system with no issues really to speak of.

As far as this thread is concerned you should mark it solved I don't believe you'll have any more problems if you do once you install the other firewall and or suites then you'll know but I think if you try one of those you should be good. I don't know if you paid for ESET but you should try to get your money back if you explained the situation it wouldn't hurt. Then on the other hand they will want proof probably and you have a can full of air to give them :/.

Seth...again...thanks for the help.

While I do not want to go crazy....fee vs. free is not an issue. I rather have good protection, so I don't have (or minimize) future problems.

I do not know, but suspect that free programs, Avast, Comodo, and Microsoft, leave some things lacking from what is offered/provided in the fee offerings. you have a recommendation(s) for fee programs? Or a site which helps to evaluate them? What do you use? Info on why and ease of use would be helpful.

PS....others input would also be appreciated....

I use Outpost Security Suite which they have a thirty day trial and also a malware protection that is top notch IMHO Outpost Internet Security Suite Download you can buy a single pack for $30 or a 3 computer license for $50 which is what Norton would cost just for one license and it isn't as good as protection. I had norton on and it had missed things that outpost caught immediately. I to believe you get more when you pay for something that is just the way the world operates, but I would give it a try. The only thing about outpost that can be troublesome is that when installing certain drivers and such you have to shut it down to install them or it wont allow you to. So if it won't let you install something shut down the services by clicking on the icon by the clock and exit and shut it down and then restart it from the programs menu after that. :)
