Debug Assertion Failed! in english

i got this message from i belive c++
it goes like this:

Debug Assertion Failed!

File: f:\dd\vctools\crt_bld\self_x86\crt\src\asctime.c

Expression: ( tb->tm_year > = 0 )

For information on how your program can cause an assertion
failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

(Press Retry to debug the application)

and i have three options: "Abort", "Retry" and "Ignore"
and each one of them, after pressed and after a couple of seconds, gives me this message again.

I don't know anything about asserts or anything else with C++ really, i just played a game called Dead Island and suddenly this showd up and appers on my screen ever since, even when i'm not playing the game.

Please help and please tell me fow to fix this but in the language of the mortals, if possible...

Anyway, don't know if it should be marked as solved, there might be more people with this problem out there who perhaps have they're time set normaly and still get this...
