Standby Hanging On Black Screen
I've had this laptop for 3 years now, reinstalled Windows 7 on it (clean install) earlier this year around March - April. I've replaced the hard drive after the Hitachi that came with died.
Lately, when trying to enter standby, it's been hanging on a black screen, with intermittent hard drive activity. During this phase, the mute button and wifi buttons on the chassis appear to toggle correctly, turning from blue/white to orange as appropriate. I can't tell if anything else on the keyboard functions. If allowed to continue, there will eventually be a crash and the laptop will present the safe mode choice screen upon booting.
BlueScreenView shows Error 0x0000009f, due to ntoskrnl.exe with error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. This is probably just me performing a hard shutdown using the power button. When left to its own devices it crashes with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE due to tcpip.sys.
I saw on the forums elsewhere that this was due to a bad Intel Wifi driver, and I've updated to the latest version, to no avail. Someone else mentioned legacy USB support as a possible culprit but HP seems to have locked down the BIOS to not offer any options to that effect.
Info attached. Perfmon was not working so that report is not present, unfortunately
