    Cant get to log in screen


    My friends HP Pavilion dv6 which is running windows 7 home premium keeps crashing.

    When you turn it on it goes to the blue wallpaper screen but then stops. i can still move the mouse around the screen but there is nothing else on the screen only a black box in the top left corner but it disappears straight away.
    same thing happens in start up repair too.

    Can anyone help me with a fix?

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

    Have you tried pressing the F8 key at startup to get into the advanced boot options?

    Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

    You may get some answers from HP Support. Not sure where you live so you may have to change the region from the link at the top of their web page.

    In the absence of any other ideas, you could try a repair install providing you have a Windows 7 disc or a factory restore if you have a set of HP recovery discs.
