Random Black Screens. In and out of games/programs.

    Windows 7 64 bit
    Asus p5n-d
    ram 2x twin2x4096-6400c5 G
    Nvidia gtx460 (already rma'd once)

So its time for you guys to save the day!

I attached the 2 .dmp files that i've gotten.

I do not know how to get the big .dmp file that i see others have.
Sadly i have a 1% chance to get a .dmp file.

I do not have anything overclocked. No errors on 3 different sets of ram (only using 1 set in the mobo). Memtest passed on all of them. Did Prime Test a few months back and passed.

I have had these issues for about 6-8 months.

In case you want to see the .dmp files themselves instead of a txt file.

hey there ragter! be patient, someone will help you! Ive not delt with this issue in windows 7 or vista before, and the 64-bit version may complicate things further, but the c4 error code BSOD you referenced is (as I'm guessing you already know) due to some type of conflicting s/w or more likely a subpar driver for your video card. The reason I said I think you know is that when a program such as norten AV is active it can cause a conflict with a system driver, and the solution is occaionally to uninstall Norten but first one would waant to be sure this would remidy the situation so the verifier is implemented. It's actually designed for advanced users, and while I do not know your level of skills with a computer, I can say be very careful to use it correctly. I assume it has been reset to the original state, right?

Do you have norten a/v installed?

And were you specifically trying to install a video driver 6-8 months ago or just recently?

I really need you to answer mosre then just my last question or this could take longer than it needs to be. ya know!:)

so I get it you got the computer used and with the problem "starting" and its getting much worse.

Lets check first for a driver issue:

    click(Start) >> control panel >> device manager

do any of the driver icons have either yellow or red symbols on them like a red "x" or a yellow triangle with an explination mark. If any icons with these or any other "tags" like these are present please tell me the name(s) of the drivers and the symbol

now in the device manager's menu, please select: View >> Show hidden devices

now preform the same "look over" and report anything marked as stated above

    nothing is yellow or red.

I just disabled the nvidia geforce 460gtx audio driver since its known for major stability issues.

It's not "used" i got the mobo/video card combo in oct of '10 and i have had issues but i have been able to ingore it. It's just gotten worse and to the point where i want to fix it now.

Both of the last 2 minidump files are pointing to your nvidia display driver.

    "Probably caused by : nvlddmkm.sys"

Please update all drivers completely. Go to the nvidia website, DO NOT use windows update to update drivers.

Now while still in device manager, open your video driver and try updating it using the windows update driver button and allowing windows to search, although its unlikely they will have it, so after waiting tfor that search, if it comes up "you have the most current driver" then you'll have to check the driver version and go to the manufactures website to locate he most up to date driver/patches
