New HP notebook, very frequent BSOD, no obvious cause
Last week I received my brand new HP EliteBook 8560w Workstation Notebook.
Configuration is as follows:
Intel i7 2630QM quad core
nVidia Quadro 1000M
4GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (pre-installed on notebook)
The problem is that I receive BSOD's very often (on average within a couple of hours after every boot, but can be as soon as 10 min. or only after over 5 hours). It's not clear what is causing the BSOD's (no specific action or application), but the last couple of days it struck me that it doesn't happen often when just browsing the internet or reading pdfs etc., more often when listening to music (wmp) or watching youtube or other flash video. But it has also happened when I wasn't really doing anything and the computer was just displaying the desktop.
I upgraded the memory to 12 GB by adding two more 4GB cards, taking them out did not matter at all (currently they are still out). I have updated the drivers for video and audio. Windows is up to date. I performed a virus scan and memory diagnostics (HP and windows) and other HP system diagnostics and flashed the BIOS. All without succes. At first AVG was installed, which I replaced by Avast! also without any result.
Really don't know what else I can do... Does anybody have a clue?
