System Freezes, Kernel Power Error

While we can probably "sus" out the hardware that is causing the problem. If it is under warranty you should let them fix or replace it(despite it being a PITA) because opening the case and removing hardware will most certainly void a warranty which you have already paid for.

If this computer is still under warranty your best bet is to return it as the troubleshooting may void the warranty. {as stated in my post 5 above}

I just looked it up on the hp site and it says the warranty expired last month

I have no clue what to do. The computer isnt booting at all. And i dont have the windows7 cd either.

Well I unplugged the power cord for a good hour, plugged it back in and tried it again and now the system actually boots up. Is there anything I can check to see why nothing was booting up before?

Yes.

You can check in event viewer to see if the problem is logged.


There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.

You want to look for all errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

These are the 3 main errors that I get the most.

I only see one new dmp file since the last one I posted and Ill attach it for you guys to take a look at.

Still hardware, still the same solutions.

If the problem is bad enough you may want to consider a clean install (which wont fix a hardware problem) because it will eliminate software as a possible cause.

If you still get them then you will have to start pulling out hardware or taking it to someone to do that.

We are happy to continue to help you diagnose this problem but it may be quicker to re-install
