HD controller error. Please run a chkdsk as per below.
A- CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.
Do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.
Then reboot and let the test run.
It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.
See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.
B- Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"
C-CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.
Thank you, sir, for your reply.
I have attached the reports of CHKDSK pasted on a notepad file.
Waiting for your valuable reply..
Thanks..
There were some chkdsk errors in the log file, wasn't it?
What could be the reason for disk read errors? and how can I get it rectified? I have severe problems with Win7. In the past four months, I have re-installed OS ten times. Problems with booting. and hibernation problems (something like: Unable to read hyber.sys file.
After I did everything you asked me to do in the first post, there is no problem as far as my PC's booting and performance are concerned.
But there is one problem:
My Net-book asks for disk-checking every time it starts. It says: One of your disk needs to be checked for consistency and starts checking.
Is there any problem? How many times will this happen?
And that hybernation problem: it does not happen everytime. Sometimes it happens. It's okay. Before I installed OS this time, my PC wasn't hibernating at all. This is much better this time.
