Well... these three BSODs all happened within the past 30 minutes or so. According to everything I've read online, it's pointing towards HDD failure.

I still have 6 days left on my 30-day free-return policy from Newegg on my Hard Drive, so if anyone could verify that thought I'd GREATLY appreciate it so I'm not out yet another $130 on this machine.

Are you using ReadyBoost at all on this machine? Do you actively have a ReadyBoost USB key attached at the time of the crashes?

Not that I am aware of - I've never tampered with anything named ReadyBoost. Should I be?

Do you have any USB sticks plugged in? I didn't see any listed in the system files. I see a single 1 TB SATA HDD.

Carl's asking about ReadyBoost because a dump from yesterday listed it -
    Code:

The crash occurred ~20 seconds after boot-up; was VERIFIER_ENABLED, yet named no 3rd party driver.

One dump from 30 Oct indicates HDD. Did you install the new HDD after 30 Oct?

Yes, actually - I installed the HDD on the 30th (second installation... first guy I talked to said a clean install of Windows would clear up all the BSODs. Apparently not!).

As for the USB sticks, the only two things I have taking up USB slots is a Belkin Wireless Internet adapter (Model F9L1002v1) and a wireless adapter for my wireless keyboard and mouse (Logitech LX710). The crash may be due to the fact that when I switched where the USB for my mouse and keyboard was, it caused the system to reboot.

But I do not recall using (or ever having used) Readyboost. Should I go ahead and download that on the computer that's been having issues?

    When did that happen?

How old is the Belkin driver? Check Device Manager -
    START | type devmgmt.msc

    Belkin driver downloads

    Belkin Usb wireless driver

Check that Logitech drivers are updated - Cordless Desktopо LX 710 Laser

ReadyBoost is part of Windows 7. There is nothing for you to install.

VERIFIER_ENABLED BSODs that don't name 3rd party drivers indicates unknown hardware failure is the likely cause, IMO. Some BSODs point to video & RAM.

    Check the drivers first.

Test Video - Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

    Run memtest86+ - http://www.techsupportforum.com/2863029-post5.html

After hours of updating all my drivers, running Memtest86 again on both RAM chips in both DIMMs (and passing every time after 10 passes each), and my Seatools HDD test coming back fine, it's the opinion of my father (who is an electrical engineer) that something in the Windows 7 disk itself is corrupt, as a good majority of my BSODs either traced back to win32k.sys and System32-related files, or were apparently caused by hardware issues (but as stated above, that doesn't seem to be the case?).

That said, would it be reasonable to think that maybe it's an issue with the OS itself? I have a fresh disk of Windows XP Professional from a computer (but was never installed) we used to have... would it be out-of-this world to think that this may solve some of the issues?

Windows doesn't get recompiled every time it's installed (in fact, it's an image, so it can't even be installed differently on your machine than others like XP or older could). If it was a problem with a file or registry entry in Windows, this would be all over the place. It's possible your hardware has triggered some sort of bug, but I'd be more interested in how the system behaved with no USB ports enabled in the BIOS (and of course nothing plugged into them). Given all the dumps so far, I am actually suspecting hardware or BIOS issues.

    Hey Cluberti,
Just to check in... I've since wiped Windows 7 off the hard drive, have installed XP and have had 0 problems since. I don't know if it was a driver-related issue with hardware that somehow got ironed out, or an update (as Windows Update with Windows 7 was a pain to get it to "successfully" install anything) issue, but everything seems (keyword: seems) to be resolved for the time being.

I've had the computer up and running for the past 12 hours or so, trying to stress something on it (Memtest, Furmark, Seatools HDD diagnostic, Video Memory Stress Test, et all) and nothing is failing so far. So, for future reference, if I'm ever interested in attempting to re-install Windows 7, that means it was most likely a driver/update issue, right?

    And @Per0 - I'm sorry, I only speak English
