Hey, so i am still having problems with the BSOD but I may have figured out when it crashes. It seems to crash when I am idling on my computer. I will have a word document or firefox or email up. It seems if I leave the computer idling with a few windows (1+) up for more than a few minutes, it will crash when I come back and start up a new program. So just a few minutes ago I had firefox up on Pandora, so I didnt touch it for a while. maybe 20 minutes in I needed to open a new program and when I did it crashed.
does anyone have any ideas with this new information?
Im having similar problems to you, i BSOD in particular circumstances with error code 116. Its something to do with the graphics but im not completely sure which aspect of it. I crash when i load a skyrim game most of the time. I can get through the menu fine, it will give me loading screen tips fine, but as soon as it reaches the actual game screen, i get a display of red square patterns, the display shuts off, then it comes back on with a BSOD before rebooting. On some days it works well, and if it loads past the initial 2 seconds of gameplay then i can play all day long without a problem. Movies are ok and so are word documents, its only Skyrim and another game that it happens with.
Have you found a solution? It's something software related, it must be because it happens only with particular software events. I've tryed different drivers but no luck. Also the fact that it works sometimes leaves me absolutely stumped. Tommorow, ill try removing the AMD catalyst program and reinstalling direct x.
Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated!
I was thinking maybe it had something to do with a power saving mode where it runs underclocked until it detects that a game is played and it needs more performance. Maybe mine crashes when it trys to overclock itself?
