Windows 7: BSOD while playing Skyrim, other graphics heavy programs. Error 0x07a

21 Nov 2011   #11

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I completed the memtest on both sticks, both came out clean with no errors after 8 passes. I am running Driver Verifier now and using my computer as I normally would, waiting for a blue screen. However, I'm getting strange reboots now. The first time, my game just closed. No freeze, no lag, nothing. I was just suddenly ejected back to the desktop. A few seconds later, my whole computer just rebooted. No blue screen, just a spontaneous reboot. No dump file was created.

The second time, my game did not shut down, but instead when I tabbed out of it to check something else, my start bar and desktop icons were gone. Some odd error messages popped up, but I didn't have time to read them before they went away and my computer restarted. Again, no blue screen, no dump. I haven't been able to find anything helpful in the Event Viewer about either reboot. *SIGH*

Alright, I got a BSOD with Driver Verifier enabled this time. I disabled it, and am now uploading the most recent dmp file.

ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000000e - A device which does not exist was specified.

DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware

Start by running chkdsk

Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.

Do this for each hard drive on your system.

When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.

Then reboot and let the test run.

It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.

See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

B- Elevated Command Prompt:

Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)

At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter

Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.

Double click on the Source column header.

Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).

Copy/paste the results into your next post.
