    BSOD during normal use, becoming increasing regular

    Windows 7 Professional x64 bit
    Installed via upgrade of a Windows 7 install, full retail version.
    System less than 2 months old as is the OS install.

    Getting blue screen an increasing amount at the moment, noted that ndis.sys was mentioned on the BSOD. No real pattern to when it happens, has happened once on reboot from standby but also whilst in normal operation.

    Many thanks,

    Raining

    wow! that's a fast answer!
    Hello Raining and welcome!

    Easy.
    Either delete your Atheros Wireless USB Network Adapter, or update it.

    Bugcheck

    Code:
    *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *
    *                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
    *                                                                             *
    *******************************************************************************

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
    This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
    the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
    as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
    Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
    coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
    /NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
    hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
    If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
    system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
    Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
    Arg2: fffff88001920d70, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: fffff8800a2200f8, Exception Record Address
    Arg4: fffff8800a21f950, Context Record Address

    In addition to FredeGails excellent analysis (do what he suggests) just some old drivers that need updating

    Old drivers
    Code:
    RTCore64.sys    5/25/2005 1:39:12 AM        fffff880`08b33000    fffff880`08b39000    0x00006000    0x42941d90
    snpstd3.sys    3/27/2007 5:18:55 AM        fffff880`06eb9000    fffff880`078c8c00    0x00a0fc00    0x4608ef8f
    WlanUZG.sys    7/4/2007 9:58:34 PM    WlanUZG.sys+f95a0    fffff880`0423b000    fffff880`0433e000    0x00103000    0x468c5e5a
    asusgsb.sys    9/27/2007 8:14:50 AM        fffff880`0f400000    fffff880`0f404580    0x00004580    0x46fbacca
    ATKDispLowFilter.sys    5/13/2008 10:03:13 PM        fffff880`04799000    fffff880`047a2a00    0x00009a00    0x482a5671

    How To Find Drivers:
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

    Wow fast reply, thankyou!
    I've got a second wireless adapter so I'll give that a try, if not then I'll run an ethernet cable through and eliminate wireless all together.

    Thanks ZigZag!

    That should do the trick.

    Welcome again,
    Fred.
