    I ran a Perfmon/Report and speccy.
Publishing snapshot was unable to upload my specs...so I saved it as text and uploaded with the perfmon/report html file.
both reports are in this archive:

The reason that comes to mind re: Speccy timing out = KIS firewall blocking it.

    Code:
     Summary
          Operating System
              MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
          CPU
              Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo @ 2.50GHz 51 °C
              Penryn 45nm Technology
          RAM
              4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15)
          Motherboard
              Dell Inc. 0D501F (Microprocessor) 55 °C
          Graphics
              Generic PnP Monitor (1440x900@60Hz)
              256MB GeForce 8600M GT (Dell) 66 °C
          Hard Drives
              488GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HM500LI ATA Device (SATA) 45 °C
          Optical Drives
              Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7640A ATA Device
          Audio
              SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Graphics is borderline hot. Clean the laptop vents with compressed air.

See if temps lower. Speedfan - http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Those latest temps are hot -
    Code:
    Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo @ 2.50GHz: 72 °C
    Dell Inc. 0D501F (Microprocessor): 77 °C
    GeForce 8600M GT (Dell): 75 °C
    488GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HM500LI ATA Device (SATA): 47 °C
When my laptop gets that hot, I do experience slowness.

    See what the cleaning does.

    Thanks for figuring out Speccy.

well I tried cleaning. It helped a lot with temps for sure thanks to you.

    Code:
    CPU
    	Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo @ 2.50GHz	42 °C
    	Penryn 45nm Technology
    RAM
    	4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15)
    Motherboard
    	Dell Inc. 0D501F (Microprocessor)	52 °C
    Graphics
    	Generic PnP Monitor (1440x900@60Hz)
    	256MB GeForce 8600M GT (Dell)	58 °C
    Hard Drives
    	488GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HM500LI ATA Device (SATA)	46 °C
this is for Idle time as were the latest temps.

but there is something you should know that my battery is kinda dead
it keeps so much less time than before which I think is normal based on battery life.
And I always use the power cord not the battery, I don't think that should be the problem, would it?
Again Thanks a lot for your time...

The temps look much better. Glad to hear the clean-out helped.

Did the cleaning help with the sluggishness of the system?

Re: battery - how old is the system? If under warranty - get the battery replaced.

I've had laptops where the battery has lasted for years (& still holds 2+ hour charge); others where the battery is dead after 18 months (holds a 10 minute charge, if that).

The dead battery laptop -- I just use the A/C adapter now (took the battery out).
