BSOD 116 while playing flash, games (atikmpag.sys)

    Hi everybody! :)

Ever since I got my new HIS HD6870 IceQ-X Turbo, while playing or even just watching a video on youtube, I keep getting either:

    - Freeze/Black Screen then "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered" making applications crash.

    - Freeze/Audio Loop/BSOD 116 telling me that my sweet atikmpag.sys betrayed me once again.

    What I tried:

    - Ran a memory test with built-in Windows 7 memory check for more than 6 passes and didn't get errors.

    - Tried booting with only one memory stick (both of them)

    - Tried every versions of ATI drivers.

    - Re-installed Windows several times.

    - Disabling any kind of OC.

    - Increasing PCI-E bus frequency from 100mhz to 103mhz and this brought longer stability but it's definitely not resolving the trouble. (Bootlooping at 105 BTW)

    - Tried graphic card at a friend's for 45mins and it didn't crash. But not sure the test was long enough.

    - Put back my HD4870 and it ran pretty fine except that I got that BSOD once after playing for a while on Battlefield 3. So I don't know what to think.

EDIT: Also nothing is overheating, everything under 65°C on load and I updated BIOS to last version.

Well I'm running out of ideas so please HELP!!!!

My 3 last .dmp are attached..

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Hi.

Download and install the new version of Driver Sweeper

Download the most recent software\driver for your ati AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

Uninstall ati software\driver,restart in safe mode, run driver sweeper, choose only AMD-Display and clean, restart in normal mode.

    Install the new ati software\driver,restart.

    UpdateDirectX

Read very carefully the instructions and run https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/160729-nvidia-amd-video-card-test-occt.html post here the results.

    Ok! thanks for your reply.

Followed your instructions. Launching OCCT now and will post result! Do u suspect the GPU?

Tests results are fine but your Power Supply is too weak to handle that system. 520W is barely sufficient for your system.

Hey yowanvista! So according to you, the power supply would be the cause for this?
I hope it is that simple but one thing makes me question about this.
It's the fact that the computer needs only a few minutes on a flash video like youtube to crash.
Do you really think the power supply is related in that case? Also can we say the GPU is safe after the results from OCCT or not yet?

    Thanks for your time guys!

EDIT: Well, i don't know anything about power supply really. What I know is that when I tweak 3 things in my BIOS, it brings much more longer stability. Flash is pretty stable and it takes much more time to crash in games. Is it only hiding the real cause or is it really the trouble? Maybe you can tell.

Here's what I change, maybe some is useless I don't know:

    - Adjust PCI-E Frenquency (Mhz) : from 100 to 103Mhz
    - Auto disable PCI Frequency: from Enabled to Disabled
    - ClockGen Tuner/ PCI Express Amplitude Control: from 800mV to 1000mV

    Hope this can help!

Since you've previously mentioned that your RAM and GPU are fine this leaves us the PSU.
If your system is underpowered tweaks won't help at all, you'll need to get a new PSU capable of providing more power.

Well tweaks help! Did u read what I wrote? Or maybe I'm taking the "won't help at all" too seriously?
Don't get me wrong, I'm really grateful for the time you're spending to help me but I need some more. Buying a new PSU will cost money so I want to be pretty sure of what I'm doing.
How much power do you think I'd need? Since tweaking the BIOS helps, don't you think something else could be involved? Or are you sure the PSU is the faulty component?

I tried to mean that tweaks will not decrease the power usage of your components, there is no way to test out a PSU using software. The only way would be to swap it in another PC and trying to replicate the issue as you did with your graphics card. It may not be faulty but the PSU is probably providing less power than required by most parts in your system.
