Windows 7 Ultimate x64 intermittently freezing

    Hi,

    I need some help please.

I have been running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 bit on my pc for 6 months or so when recently it just started freezing up either whilst loading or whilst im on the desktop screen. I have checked memory chips for error and its returned back no errors found. I have to sometimes reboot the pc when its frozen and then it doesn't load up. It freezes just after windows logo appears and just halts for ages. Sometimes it doesnt even get that far. I have a memory and cpu gauge on my desktop which constantly has memory on about 56% usage and cpu on 0.2%.

I have even resinstalled a backup image i have created of the operating system but now its even worse.

I have Virgin media security software installed.

Please can someone help me as this is causing me to lose hair

    Most appreciated

    Rick

My name is Dusty, perhaps I can offer some help.

This sounds suspiciously of a hardware problem. Follow this tutorial to test your RAM: RAM - Test with Memtest86+ and/or Memory Diagnostics Tool

They may take some time to complete

Try to switch out hardware (if you can) with other hardware to eliminate non-problems/focus on things that could be problems.

Use disk check (option 2) using a command prompt at startup.

    The following are software diagnostics:

Try running a Startup repair 3 times.

    If nothing, use Repair install
