BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, cannot create a dump file to post

Hello. I realize I am supposed to post log files, but I cannot due to the fact I cannot access anything except the f8, f10/alt, f2 and f12 screens which no matter which selection I attempt I end up back to this dreadful blue screen and errror message. I am posting from a nearby desktop computer with hopes you will be able to guide me in using either my Windows operating system reinstallation disc, or a boot/repair disc I have with restore tools included.

I have changed the boot order a few different ways, with no luck. I have tried windows debugging and every other option in the f8 menu, with no luck. I have tried the f12 selections, with no luck. Please help.

As I've learned, the PC is a Gateway NV59C with 4GB DDR3Mem, 320 GB HHD, Intel HD graphics, Intel Core i3-330MHD with Windows 7 and 64bit.

I have tried multiple solutions and did a lot of research, but have not been able to fix the problem. If I can create a log, I would be happy to provide it to you upon direction.

I noticed the "Attention" pgdaly screen about posting a BSOD thread....and please know I cannot post dump files or upload a screen shot because I cannot access the start menu or desktop. I am communicating to you on a different PC. Please help if you can.....Thank you.

This sounds like a problem for a specialist, and I know just the guy that could help with this. I'll ask gregrocker to have a look at this when he gets the chance. Please follow his instructions/suggestions to the letter.

Hi pgdaly,

Whilst we wait for Greg, I just had a thought. Can you try the following (I'm hoping we might be able to get your Start Orb back using this technique):

1. Boot your PC from your Windows Installation Disk.
2. When the Language screen loads prompting you to select the Language, Time, Currency and Keyboard input method, hold down SHIFT and then press the F10 key
3. The comand window should open with the prompt X:\Sources
4. At this prompt, change to your C drive, and then type sfc /scannow and hit enter

This will scan for and attempt to fix any system file integrity violations. I'm hoping that if it can repair soemthing, you might get your Start Orb back again. Note, you may have to repeat the sfc command up to 3 times in order to correct any system file integrity issues.

I'm sorry, but I cannot boot from boot/repair disc or Windows reinstallation disc. While it "sounds" like it's loading, and appears to be loading, I do not every get to the beginning screen with the language; it ends up back to the same blue screen. I've tried several methods to boot, and none work.

I have also accessed a command prompt screen by repeadedly hitting F10 and Alt simultaneously. On this screen it lists at the top an UNedible pathway:

\Windows\system32\winload.exe
Partition: 3
Hard Disk: d6e2b22
[ /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN] (this is an editable pathway)

If you can't boot into the DVD then do you have the Repair My Computer choice on F8 Advanced Boot Options? If so boot into it to run Startup Repair repeatedly, post back results. Run Memory Diagnostics from F8 menu if available.

If not reset your BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. Then see if you can boot DVD by setting it first to boot in BIOS setup, or tapping the F10 key for Boot Menu. Are you prompted to "Press any key to boot DVD?" and what happens if so?

Once you can boot the DVD choose Repair on second screen then run Startup Repair to see what it reports.

Next burn to CD and run 5-6 passes of memtest86: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Next burn to CD or write to flash stick, boot and run a full scan with Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.

Once the System is clean if it won't start boot into System Recovery Options via the F8 menu or disk as shown in tutorial, run Startup Repair repeatedly no matter what it reports. Post back results.

If this fails, try System Restore from Recovery Options list, then if that fails open a Command Line to run SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot.

Next test your HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD test.

As a last resort boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD to Explore C to see if your files are intact, make sure C or the 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred) is marked Active, then click on HD to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply. If Windows 7 doesn't start and you restored Active flag, run Startup Repair 3 Separate Times.

If these all fail you can copy out your data using your Windows 7 DVD or Repair CD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or Paragon Rescue CD.

Then run Factory Recovery from its partition or disks you made or order from Tech Support, or find a Windows 7 installation DVD to clean reinstall using Product Key on COA sticker: Clean Reinstalling Windows 7
