Sorry for being so dense, but why am I downloading SP1? It's already been installed - is this for repair? This is the page I looked at: Download Windows 7 SP1 Integrated DVD ISO – Official Direct Download Links
Problem is, it's going to take over 7 hrs to download and my laptop won't stay on that long.
Sorry, I'm not that great with computers and I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing anymore. This has been quite a learning experience...
You may want to download it from another computer with better internet access. That is not just SP1; it includes Windows 7 with SP1, the full install disc for Windows 7. You need SP1 integrated into the Windows 7 installation because your computer has SP1 on it, and you have to install the same version or better for Windows to see it as an upgrade and do the repair install.
If you are unable to get another computer with better internet access, can you run with more stability in Safe Mode with Networking and download it that way?
Thank you for the explanation - makes more sense now. I will try to d/l it tomorrow morning (laptop seems to be more stable in the morning than later on).
I'm sure you'll hear back from me once that is done...thanks for being patient.
Okay, finally got the iso downloaded (after much drama) and have burned it onto a disc. I have read the instructions for a repair install, but am still not sure how to begin (probably b/c I'm not sure what I downloaded).
I turn the laptop on, let Windows load, insert the disc and click on setup.exe? And then follow along?
Sorry, I've never done a repair install before.
Yes, follow until you get to the screen that says upgrade or custom install. Choose Upgrade.
