This computer is just over a year old. warranty is void as I open my case to clean it. >.> silly dell.
anyway. Problem started about a month ago, computer boots up and completely locks up on desktop after about 3-5 minutes. Did memory tests, disk checks etc. determined that it was the graphics card causing the crash. the graphics card failed because dell put a psu in the rig that couldnt power the 5870 properly so the crappy psu took my graphics card with it.
So I put in brand new graphics and a psu. problem solved. Ran beautifully for weeks. until last night. it locked up once, I hardbooted then it ran fine. this morning it locks up every time.
Last time once I took the graphics card out the onboard drivers kicked in and it ran fine hence I knew it was the graphics card causing the main fault. This time even with just the basics in the rig it locks up. Not in safe mode however. Currently running disk checks and memory tests again.
Im not sure I could get to the dump files you folks need before it locks up but I can try I just need a target folder to look for.
would I be correct in assuming:
mobo
processor
ram
lemon psu?
(hardrive checks out all checks ran fine)
I apologize for any lacking information. Ill get anything you need to you as fast as I can. :)
