Random reboot on a HP DV7 Notebook

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits (haz linux installed as well

)
Device: HP Dv7-4080us (out of warranty

)

I cannot recall the first time it started but it keeps happening here and then, everyday, with full load or in idle state and happens most of the time on Windows, happened just once when I was on my linux install with the latest kernel from Chakra repos, which I cannot say for sure the version.

I am counting on you guys to make my life happy again

I will provide any information you need, just help me. Help me please!

I have that feeling that it is VGA related because most of the reboots happens when I am watching videos in flash (like youtube); even if the video is paused and I am working on something else.

I will provide my system profile in both RAR and ZIP (much bigger). Any help will be really appreciated.

The WER section of MSINFO32 shows 2 Driver Verifier enabled memory dumps (STOP 0xC9) that blame your Razer Lachesis. Older versions of Razer drivers are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems - yours date from 2007. Please:
- download the latest version of the drivers from the Razer website
- uninstall the current drivers
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's
- Turn Driver Verifier OFF

To turn Driver Verifier off:
- open up the Driver Verifier program
- select "Delete existing settings"
- click on "Finish"
- reboot the system

I am currently not using this device and it always reboot without a BSOD, should I proceed anyway?

I have the latest drivers from the website installed!

CPU temps are in the mid-60º C range - that's a bit too hot. Check the CPU cooling stuff to make sure it's working correctly. Mainboard is a 53, so this points (IMO) to an airflow problem inside the case. PCH temp is approaching 80, so that's a concern also (chipset components on the mobo).

Open the case and point a house fan (on high) into it - and see if that helps things out.

It is a notebook. I will try to open it to make sure that the thermal paste is ok, but first I will need to find some tutorials on how to do it without making things worst.

Well... I assume that all my reports didn't give you a clue, that's bad... because I am kinda of giving up myself... :/ that's too bad, because this notebook is awesome WHEN NOT REBOOTING all the time

I don't recommend going inside the notebook case - especially if you don't have any experience at it!!!
They aren't that difficult, but if you don't reassemble it correctly you stand a good chance of destroying the system.

The PCH temps are what concerns me the most (79ºC)
Put the laptop on a hard surface - or even let a house fan blow at the bottom.

Clean out all vents with canned air (DON'T use a vacuum or air compressor as they can cause damage)
Make sure that the fan inside the case is running.

It used to run at 98°C without any problems... maybe that caused some damage, but I don't understand why on Linux it doesn't reboot and on Windows it tends to reboot when watching youtube videos... I will try to use only HTML5 from now on to see if the flash is the cause of the issues...
