Your last crash is STOP 0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
Usual causes: Disk corruption, insufficient physical memory, Device driver, Indexing, Resident antivirus, backup, defrag programs, Disk/Drive failing/failure

I have one HDD that's not the boot drive (might be the drive used for virtual memory now that you mention it) that SpeedFan SMART reports tells me is beginning to fail.
    Replace or remove when testing.
You can replace this drive after the crashes are stopped, then you will know if it is causing a problem.

All the crashes above are consistent with a memory issue.

What anti-virus are you using? I'm using MSE. There is something installed from McAfee but it only tells me whether or not my computer is safe, not actually an anti-Virus software, I will uninstall that when I get home
Un-install the McAfee software, it is known to cause crashes on Windows 7.
Run the uninstaller from the McAfee site.
With MSE you will be safe, run Malwarebytes once a week.

This is a driver for a tablet, Wacom(tablet) Mouse Filter
    Code:
    wacommousefilter.sys Sat Feb 17 02:12:17 2007
Find this and disable or un-install. It's the driver for my graphics tablet I received at Christmas. I assume I can reinstall it once we locate this problem
    Uninstall it for testing.
Any driver from before 14 July 2009 is not recommended for use in Windows 7.
After the issues are solved, check the Wacom site for a newer Win7 driver or e-mail them if you can't find one on their site.

Have you installed all of the Windows updates? Not all, some install then I get a bluescreen. I can keep at it until all are installed if necessary
Run System File Checker, let us know if it comes up with anything.
Don't try to install any Windows updates that have caused a crash until we are finished.
Not many updates cause crashes anymore, this indicates a system fault.

Update the MSE definitions. Will do
This should be done 3-4 times a week, they should be in your Windows Update program.
    This will keep you safe.

Will uninstall for the time being
For testing purposes, you can install after the system is stable.

Also, before I left the front door this morning, I saw a red line in MemTest, which I guess is an error during the first pass. Both RAM sticks are in slots 1 & 2, and MemTest says it's clocked at 666MHz. Does this mean faulty RAM or compatibility issue?
    Akira181 said:
just back from work. Just started pass 10 and there were 363 errors.
Any error in memtest86+ means there is a problem with the RAM.
Corsair is pretty good about RMAs, try to change it for one of the RAM kits listed below, or ask them for a recommendation.

wish I read this earlier. I done everything you said in your last post apart from the Windows Updates part. I attempted to install the rest, it bluescreened and now Windows won't boot.

With the amount of fixes we've tried, it looks like it's a hardware problem. I'll RMA the RAM since MemTest has errors and you said a lot of my crashes are consistent with memory errors and then come back with an update.

Thanks again for the advice, hopefully we can get this solved!

    *Edit

just thinking about the RMA, can I ask them to change it for a different kit? I thought they would only replace like for like?

I would explain the crashes you have had, mention that it is guaranteed to run on AMD systems, and that you want to try another kit.

Ask them what they suggest for your motherboard.

They are usually good about changing kits.

    very very annoyed right now.

CMX4GXM2B1600C9 is the one I ordered - states support for AMD Phenom (so I assumed it would work with the Rana core as well).

CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 is the one I received. The website says this:

Corsair's mainstream memory solution for Intel.s new Core i5 and Core i7 dual channel DDR3 processors. The XMS3 family is Corsair's mainstream line of performance DDR3 memory. These modules allow users to experience outstanding memory performance and stability. Available in Corsair.s new XMS heat spreaders, each module is built using carefully selected RAMs.

This 4GB twin kit memory solution has been designed specifically to support the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual channel memory DDR3 solutions. This solution runs at an incredibly fast 1600MHz at CAS latency of 9-9-9-24. So not only do you get to run your Intel Core i5 or Core i7 dual channel memory system at 1600MHz but with these tight Latency timings your system performance will rock..

    not impressed!

If you still have the original order, send it to them with the request for replacement with another model.

Tell them you system specs and ask them to recommend a kit.

Let us know how it's going.

After a lot of arguing, I finally got them to exchange the RAM. Odd that I had to argue so much considering I paid 80 at the time and the one I wanted them to exchange it to costs 30 today.

Anyhow, installed it Friday afternoon with a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 and so far no BSOD. Haven't ran MemTest or installed all my programs yet but it's looking good so far!

Annoying how all this was due to incorrect RAM. Hopefully this is now solved, thanks to everyone for all the help so far!

    Thanks for the update.

Let us know how it's running.

If in a week it's still stable, please mark the thread 'solved'.

Will do, out of town this week but will put it through its paces when I get back.

One thing odd I noticed was that the computer doesn't show the POST screen anymore. Monitor says "no signal" until the Windows loading splash screen. Pulled the CMOS battery out and reset it with the jumpers too but no change. Not a big issue but still annoying.

If I keep pressing DEL to bring up the BIOS, the monitor will turn on once the BIOS screen has loaded. Cannot find any settings in the BIOS that would explain that though
