BSOD Installing windows 7 or XP

    Hello.

What happens is that when I try to install windows 7 it gets to the "expanding files" and then I get the BSOD.

It says: A problem has been detected, blah blah

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

    [WALL OF USELESS TEXT]

    *** STOP: 0x0000004E

I would upload some crash file but I don't have an OS but I'm trying to get a high quality camera ASAP

    System specs:
    Motherboard: Asus M4A78T-E
CPU: AMD PHENOM II X4 3,0GHZ
    RAM: [KINGSTON HYPERX DDR3 1600Mhz 4GB] x2
    VGA: EVGA GTX470

Did you try doing a full format rather than a quick format? To do a full format, when the install disc boots, press Shift + F10 to get the command line. Then type format (drive letter): [you may have to find your drive letter as it may not be c:]

For instance, assuming it is c:

    format c:

    Hi,

That error can be associated with bad or defective RAM/RAM slot on motherboard.

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

Firstly, you need to run Memtest86+ from a bootable USB or DVD for a minimum of 6 passes (this will take several hours, so I suggest leaving it to run overnight). Post back here once it finishes 6 passes, or if it finds any errors.

Also a good suggestion. Probably best to run the memtest before the format to see if the format is necessary as it also takes a long time to run on a large drive.

already ran memtest, tested both slots and both sticks with no errors. Also, I get the error on Win7 when the files are expanding and in XP, it shows after the blue screen part, like when you have to put your username and that stuff.

Question: Can I test both sticks at the same time? if it's yes, then i'll leave them like a day or something, since it's the only thing I can RMA haha

It is usually good to test them together first and then go to one at a time if there are errors with both together.

Did you test both modules together to determine whether there were any conflicts/compatibility issues? Please keep us updated.
