    Intel(R) Centurino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN
    VEN_8086, DEV_0087
    = PCI interface
    Chip Number: 1306
    Chip Description: 00E1

    Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMax 6250
    USB\VID_8086&PID_0186&REV_0000
    = USB interface
    WiMAX Connection 2400m

    I'm totally lost here.
I'd suggest talking to Asus Tech Support
    Insist upon:
1 - a full explanation of why there's so many different WiFi devices
2 - which drivers are necessary for optimum performance
3 - where can you get the drivers - both at Asus and at the manufacturer's website (Intel/Atheros/Broadcom/etc)

Both of my son's have one of these Asus systems
I'll check it for the same issues today (if he left it here).

So far the solution is to uninstall all Intel wired and wireless drivers
Then uninstall all of the devices.
Then install the latest driver from the Asus website.

I'd suggest setting a System Restore point before doing all this. It's a major change to the system and you don't want to be caught without network access if something goes awry.

Then disable anything that doesn't have drivers installed.

Hey man, thanks! I appreciate all the help.
How do I uninstall specific drivers? The only one I can access (besides the kensigton dock stuff) via add/remove is my Realtek ethernet controller. And yup the USB to Ethernet adapter is probably for my dock, to which my ethernet cable is connected.
Other than that, I know exactly what to do :)

    Use Add/Remove
Then use Device Manager and right click on each device
Select "Remove driver software" if it's offered.

I only uninstalled the Advanced-N 6250 AGN driver, and installed the most recent version from Intel's Update Utility. I'm figuring out how to get the WIMAX back, but I really don't need it. You have my absolute gratitude, and I appreciate you posting to the ASUS forums. Aha yea I have a bunch of adapters, and this journey has helped me understand what they're all for. Problem solved (:
