Still no luck
Its been on Startup Repair for around 4 hours now. It says "Attempting repairs".
Should I restart the desktop, or let it continue? I have a feeling its going no where.

According to this thread, it can take some time - 3.5 days in one case!!
Restarting beforehand can corrupt the data on your hard drive.

I'd seriously consider getting hold of a Windows DVD and carrying out a clean install.

That is REALLY long. I guess I'll have to sleep without air conditioning for the next week and bare with this hot weather. I'll leave it on for one more day, and pray that it works. Anyways, thanks a lot for the help. I'll be up early tomorrow morning, and check my desktop.

I've been running the Startup Repair for around 7-9 hours. Apparently, it took some of those people on the forum 12 hours. I'll just wait and hope for the best.

OK, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Please keep us updated one way or the other.
There are ways to use the recovery environment to backup your users folder and any other important folders so you do not lose your important files. Let us know if you need assistance doing so. You can also use PartedMagic to Backup Files Using PartedMagic by following steps 1-7 in that post linked to in the second link.
A sleepless night for me.
I just checked my computer, and it gave me the option to System Restore, after 10 hours of Startup Repair.
That DEFINITELY solved the problem of my corrupt reboot.xml as the file is no longer there.
However, I still can't boot it up. The pending.xml file is still in X:\Windows\Winsxs and that is the reason my desktop wont boot up, according to the details of the boot. Said something like "A Patch is causing your desktop a bad reboot."
I think there would be a different pending.xml file in a different drive. Anyways, I'm filled with relief right now.
From following this thread, it seems that you have only run the startup repair once. You may need to run it two more times with a restart in between each. See Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times for further reading.
I ran the startup repair again, and my computer is finally fixed. Thanks for all the help, appreciate it. I'll make a back up disc soon. Thanks again!
