    BSOD's after replacing motherboard

My DFI motherboard recently failed, and with them ending their consumer product line, was unable to have it replaced. I bought instead a Gigabyte X58A-OC which I have been happy with, other than that I am getting random bluscreens. The same thing happens every time I start getting them; I get one out of nowhere after a few hours of use (usually during something system intensive like playing a game, but not always), then keep getting them frequently either on start up or within five minutes of doing anything system intensive. They have been going on since I started using the new motherboard, I've just been busy and haven't really had time to fix it when the issue appears. The bluescreen attacks have been off and on, sometimes off for multiple weeks, usually going away after I make some attempt to fix it but still always eventually comes back.

My initial thoughts was the graphics card driver, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it, which seemed to have fixed it for a time, but I still wound up getting them eventually. I then suspected the RAM, so I ran memtest86+ with all three sticks in, which returned an error within 20 minutes of running. After going through all the stick to DIMM socket possible combinations, they always wind up returning errors with all three slots full after repeated tests. I also tried pulling all the sticks out and running each individually through three passes of memtest86+, none of which returned any errors at all. I put the system back together and managed to go another few days without a bluescreen, but I just had a few and decided it's time to look for help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    -First installation on this motherboard
    -Full Retail version
-Motherboard is 3 months old, all the rest of the parts were purchased throughout 2009
-OS was installed in October 2011

Because of the errors that you're getting, please run Prime95 this way:
    - run the Blend test and time how long it takes to make the first error
    - run the Large FFT's test and time how long it takes to make the first error
    - run the Small FFT's test and time how long it takes to make the first error
Let us know the times for each test and we can figure out what's causing errors.
Also need the make and model of your CPU.

SSD's also have problems with Win7 systems. Here's the info that I've gathered so far:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

    Here's some suggestions:
    - Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
    - Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
    - Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
    - Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.-
Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
GigaByte's ET6 (EasyTune6) is known to cause BSOD's on some systems. PLease uninstall it.

Please remove the overclock and test the system for stability without an overclock. Please leave the overclock off until we're finished troubleshooting your issues.

Silicon Image storage drivers date from 2007, please update these also.

Gigabyte EasySaver drivers are present in the memory dump. Although not specifically blamed, you may want to uninstall it to test it for problems.

You also have Silicon Image storage controller. Make sure any drive connected to that doesn't have any "disable cache flushing" or "optimize for performance" setting checked. On some systems it causes BSOD and even data corruption on the respective drives.

I went through and did the following:

    - Updated the SSD's firmware to the latest available version
    - Removed all Gigabyte software
    - Updated the Silicon Image driver

And attempted the tests with great success. The system survived 14.5 hours of memtest 86+ and 2 hours of all kinds of Prime95 with no errors or bluescreens. I guess only time will tell now if they're gone for good, but this seems to have done it for now! Thank you!
