BSOD on first boot ntoskrnl.exe

I jinxed it.

No ESET installed but I got another BSOD just now when I booted, did a system restore but that brought back ESET in a broken state which couldn't be uninstalled or repaired due to various files claiming I didn't have clearance, which was odd considering I'm running as administrator, had to go into safe mode and use ESET's removal tool to get rid of it. Installed a fresh copy of ESET, I'll wait and see what happends tomorrow.

Last thing left to do is to run memtest, I'll leave it on and let it run when I'm at work tomorrow.

Alright, I guess that rules out ESET. You should also test to see if it runs smoothly with one of the adapters disabled through the BIOS as you were doing before. Maybe there is some hardware/driver conflict going on between your adapters as you had hypothesized.

Yeah, I'll do that after I've let memtest do it's thing tomorrow night. Might take a while though, I'll be working all weekend so I won't have the time to do any testing then, I'll try uninstalling my wireless next week and see how that goes.

I guess the last resort will be a complete reinstall, which I'm kinda reluctant to do, this installation isn't even 2 months old.

EDIT: Just had a BSOD while playing SWToR, which is new, I've only gotten them at boot-ups before.

Last night I ran memtest for 9 hours without a single error, so I guess the sticks are alright..

I'll try booting with either of my network devices disabled next, after that I'm out of options so I'll do a complete reinstallation.

EDIT: I'm currently running two harddrives mirrored via windows software RAID, if I reinstall ths OS what's going to happend to them? Will they just split into two drives with identical content or is there a chance the data might be damaged?

It would be safest if you backed up your important data onto an external drive just to be safe. I myself have never liked RAID controllers. It adds a further layer of complication with the system and causes more problems than it is worth for the majority of consumers. Why RAID is (usually) a Terrible Idea - Puget Custom Computers

If you are dead set on keeping the RAID, your RAID mirroring will need to be setup again once you get Windows running again. At that point, your old data will be removed to allow mirroring. Before that, you should still be able to access your data from your current installation, though I would recommend backing up your data on a third drive now in case something goes wrong in the interim.

After doing all the steps, did the network disabling help, or did you have to move to the re-install?

Still getting BSOD's on boot, recently bought a new GFX-card because the old one was starting to give out under load with artifacts a plenty. Oh well, another device eliminated as the culprit.

I'll be doing a complete reinstall eventually, unfortuneately I haven't got anything to backup all my data on, I've been looking into getting a NAS but can't decide wether I'll go with a 2-bay or a 4-bay. I've got time to figure it out though, with the current prices on harddrives my local shop haven't got any 2tb or 3tb drives in stock, they're waiting for production to speed up and for the prices to drop.

EDIT: Tried running the verifier as described here: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Couldn't get into Windows, crashed every single time until it did a system restore prior to enabling driver verifier.

I did not see your edit until now. You can run Verifier on only one driver at a time and see which driver is causing the crashes on startup through process of elimination.

Also, sometimes it helps to just run with standard settings selected and the other three options unselected: Force Pending I/O Requests unchecked, Low resources simulation unchecked, and IRP Logging unchecked. The Verifier custom settings information was supplied by Vir Gnarus in his post in https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ml#post1829151. It has also been supplied in other posts.

Pretty sure it's hardware related now, I've done complete reinstallations of the OS 3 times now and the BSOD's won't go away, it's even happened during the win7 installation and during safe mode.

Tonight before going to bed I'm gonna unplug the soundcard and see what happends, next step is installing the OS on a different drive, even though Intel's SSD Toolbox haven't found any errors. After that I have no choice but to assume the motherboard is busted and buy a new rig.

Time for an upgrade anyways, final one for this rig before it's retired to strictly internet/media activities. Gonna build a badass gaming rig after I've moved into my new apartment and pulled a couple of extra shifts at work.

I'll report back once I've tried the other options, thanks for the help though.

Been running new hardware for just over a week with no problems at all, pretty sure it was the motherboard that was busted.
