It may be a DirectX issue. Try downloading and installing the older DirectX 9.0 c from Download: DirectX End-User Runtime - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details. The link was taken from Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX, which may be good further reading.

some tech on a site before this one had me run "Download and run the SF Diagnostics Tool." and when i did (direct link) it tried to install searchya toolbar so i backed out. Anyway it's installed somehow I can't remove it. I did every virus scan. I removed it from programs even though I didn't commit to the install at all but it's popping up in every browser i use.

Try to use Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled to uninstall it. Hopefully it will pick it up. Also, use Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download and SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! to scan your system and see if these two scanners can remove it. I use both myself. Just watch out for any false positives as superantispyware can be a bit aggressive sometimes (you can report any false positives, and they fix them within 24 hours). Make sure you do not start the free trial of malwarebytes and only run the standalone full scan.

Any luck removing the searchya toolbar?
