    Acer Aspire 5315 overheating

Hello, I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire 5315 from Windows Vista to Windows 7. I noticed that the fan wasn't working and it was over heating. But then I installed the epower management and it fixed it. But now, when I close the lid and it goes into sleep mode, when I wake it up, the fan won't work. It won't until I restart. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

How old is the system? Have you tried contacting Acer about the issue to determine why your fan does not start?

You could also try hibernate instead of sleep. To access hibernate, you will need to use advanced power options. It is under the sleep setting shown in 5. B) in the Power Plan Settings - Change tutorial.

What is the difference between sleep mode and hibernate? I'm not sure how old it is, I think 2008-2009 range.

Hibernate saves the information to disk so the computer can completely shut down. Then the computer loads the data back from the disk into the memory. Sleep keeps all information in the memory and puts the computer into a very low power state where the power is only supplied to maintain the data in the memory. The computer does not completely shut down.

I am thinking that having the computer completely shut down rather than just enter a low power state may allow the fan to get the signal to start when the computer starts. Just a hypothesis. You will have to let us know how it pans out. :)

Thanks! I worked. I just set it so when I close the lid, it would hibernate, and when it started back up, it would work! Thanks!
