I now encounter that screen every time I log into Windows.
I removed my graphics card and tried running the on board video and there were no issues.
Does this mean my graphics card is having issues?
If so, how do I check whole not being able to get into Windows?
The drivers I'm using are the 285.62 version.
My PSU is an Antec Earthwatts model EA-650. That's all I could get from the box.
The screen only seems do go all crazy like that when I'm in windows. Never before.
And I loaded safe mode and there also doesn't seem to be an issue here either.
To clarify, with my graphics card in, safe mode is running fine.
I spoke too soon. I loaded safe mode and and the screen is distorted again. Now the screen is distorted everty time I turn on my computer.

Screen distorted even in the BIOS? That would definitely signify the card itself is going bad.
Yes, whenever the graphics card is in, there is distortion.
I took it out and I can use the onboard to browse the Internet and such, but the core goes up to 75-80C which sounds dangerously hot, so I probably won't do anything until I can get a new graphics card.
Although, why would a loss of the graphics card cause the temp to nearly double?
That is very hot for your CPU.
Max CPU temp is 61°C.

Your CPU cooler is not installed correctly.
Make sure it is tight.
You shouldn't be able to move it when it's attached.
Use Core Temp, to check the CPU core temps when you get it running again.
The screen distortion may be due to your CPU overheating.
Any update on replacing the graphics card and following the excellent suggestions given by Dave in the most recent post?
I got a new EVGA gt 240 which was a slight downgrade, but considering how old my 9800 was, it ended up being an "upgrade" since things are playing at higher settings now.
The only issue I seem to be having is my computer will freeze at random points in the start up or in windows when I first turn it on.
Basically once the computer has "warmed up" then there's no issues for the rest of the day.
Not sure what could be causing this considering I get no bsod. The computer will just hang where it is.
Also my computer tries to do a disc check on my C drove every time after these hangs.

I ran the Diagnostic and it passed.
Although my HDD is now making a weird sort of beeping sound.
Or maybe more of a stuttered read than I beep. I'm not sure how to describe it.
Its only started doing this today and its been while Windows is running.
It seems it might not have been the HDD making the noise.
I'll pinpoint the location the noise is coming from and get back.
