Laptop crashes when put into Hibernate 0x000000fe

Just recently my Laptop has started to crash/hang when placed into hibernation. if I put it into hibernation the screen goes black (which normally happens) then the fan goes crazy, I have to press and hold the power button to get it to shut off. I have noticed when I've come back to my laptop during the day that I have an error message that says "windows has recovered from a serious error" just put it down to overworking. also if I leave my laptop it "sleeps" but I haven't set it to do this, and if it does sleep it crashes the same as it does when hibernating. The only thing I have done that may be causing it is I upgraded the RAM to 8GB, I ran the windows memtest and it came back with no errors.

there is no BSOD (or that I can see) but using a program the culprits seem to be:

    afd.sys
    ntoskrnl.exe
    usbhub.sys

and there bug code is always 0x000000fe

My Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1564, running windows 7 64 bit OEM , 8GB RAM with the newest SP, I have attached all the information as requested

    thanks for your assistance.

A STOP 0xFE is a problem with USB. Please disconnect all external USB devices and see if this still happens. If so, it's possible that some internal devices are USB also (webcam, fingerprint reader, media card reader, etc)

SP1 isn't installed, please do the following:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
    2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
    3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates
    4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
    5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates
Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

USB symbol errors are given while the memory dumps are running. I'd suggest updating your chipset drivers from the Dell website.

Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs:
3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
    - Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
    - Please either update the older drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
    - DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
    - Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
    - Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers.

thanks for getting back to me, I have no USB devices connected (although once when it crashed I had a memory stick plugged in) I have all updated drivers according to the Dell website. I ran windows update and it came up with an error that an update couldn't be installed, so I followed the error message and was told to download a readiness tool which I did and it is stuck at installing Hotfix for Windows KB947821. there is no option to install SP1. I uninstalled daemon tools and ran the fix (it found now instance of the file specified). I tried to find updates for the highlighted drivers (which are all logmein) but there isn't any! I'll report back with any problems (if there is any)

    Thanks again.

Update: the hotfix installed but this KB 2529073 didn't, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2529073 keeps failing

    Fix the update problem first.
If it doesn't fix the hibernate problem, then we'll work on that.

just an update I updated my wifi driver, and the chipsets from the dell website (again) and its now hibernating. I also told windows not to power off the adaptor to save power (I read that somewhere that it helps) Back to the update problem I downloaded it manually, went to run it and it says it wasn't for my machine! Weird huh?

I used to try to fix Windows Update problems - but found that it just wasn't working for me.
I'd spend long hours researching problems - and I still couldn't fix most of the problems.

Then I found out that Microsoft will do it for free! I'd take advantage of it if I were you!
In general, once the Windows Udpates are fixed, most of the other problems tend to fall in line rather easily.
    Good luck!
