    kernel-power event 41 random restarts playing SWTOR

    good day,

    I have not been able to play SWTOR MMO. During gameplay my PC will shutdown then restart to the safe mode menu. It happens randomly 2 to 8 minutes into gameplay. Currently this happens with this game only. I do not know much about computers but I noticed the event viewer says kernel-power event 41. The PC is brand new month old. I a little frustated because I do not know what to do so any help or advice would be appreciated

    Kernel-power event ID 41 is quite a common error most of us experience at times.
    Check the Event Source. { That may help us to pinpoint the issue a bit better.}

    If it happens only when using that game take careful notice of exactly what you are doing at that time.
    If you are overclocking STOP. {at least to test}
    Return to the default settings.

    I could be doing anything from dueling to having conversations or standing idle to running around during gameplay and have random restarts

    Check the Event Source in Event Viewer.

    Type eventvwr in search.
    Go to the Windows Logs > Application {in the left hand column.}
    Note anything in red that relates to the problem.
    Please record the Source and tell us what it says.

    There are various errors with source like windows installer, sidebyside, WMI, app error but the one that pops up most is CAPI2 nothing with event id 41

    The Cap 12 drama has been around for quite a few years.
    Many threads have been written about the issue.

    Suffice to say I was first introduced to this nuisance on two brand new Laptops with Vista Ultimate 64-bit & prior to SP1.
    Tried all the fixes & nothing worked.
    The error still comes & goes with monotonous regularity.

    Lo & behold on another new Laptop running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit a Cap 12 Error presented for a time, disappeared.... & the same pattern repeats.

    Curiousity seeks answers always but there comes a time when one notices the sky hasn't fallen in.
    Monitor what happens whilst moving on.

    so I started up the game and proceeded with my quest and the PC restarted after about 15 minutes just battling monsters... I checked event viewer applications and the most recent error at 6:18pm event id 10, source WMI

    Thanks for filling in your System Specs.

    I note you have NOT installed SP1.
    You are advised to do so asap...

    Please run the update readiness tool and then update to SP-1

    Ensure you install the correct 64 or 32 bit option for your system)

    Download the System Update Readiness Tool (64bit)

    Download the System Update Readiness Tool (32bit)

    Now update to SP-1

    Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
