    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

There are compatibility issues between Microsoft Office 2000 and Windows 7, for which an update is available.

Windows 7 Compatibility for microsoft office 2000: Drivers, Updates, Downloads

I'd recommend he upgrades to Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010.

Failing that, OpenOffice is a good, free alternative.

Hello again Seavixen, thank you for enquiring. I suddenly remembered Service Packs so advised they next tried:

Download: Office 2000 Update: Service Pack 3 (SP3) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

...but don't know yet if that worked.

    Kind regards,
