I am confused. How did the system perform with the RAM from your other machine that you swapped it with? Did you get crashes with that RAM and with the current RAM? Can you provide the specs of the RAM from the previous machine to compare?

I was getting blue screens with the new RAM- they were the same brand/spec, out from my brothers PC. Ther are the Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB sticks and were running at 1600Mhz, I have even tried running them lower to see if that made any difference but it didn't. The crash generally happens when im running multiple applications, the PC becomes unresponsive and bang, BSOD!.

Only 67 updates since SP1 - most systems have a lot more. Please check Windows Update for any available updates.

Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...080710133834EN
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.

4 different causes blamed.
This is, IMO, most likely a hardware problem.
Hardware problems include:
- overclocking
- compatibility issues (such as the Western Digital software)
- low-level driver problems (such as the XBox controller)
- malware

Western Digital drivers date from 2008. Please uninstall this program.

XBox USB controller driver dates from 2009 and there's no newer versions available. I've seen issues with this device recently. Please:
- uninstall the software for this device
- physically remove the device from your system
- monitor for further BSOD's
