    Random BSOD with new PC

    Hi,

I have constantly been getting Blue Screens since building my new PC few months ago. It appears randomly and I can't see any obvious reason as to why it occurs. At first I thought it might be due to my old graphics card (ATI 6850), having removed that and put the old 8600GT, the problem still persists. I have also tried re-installing windows several times but with no luck.

I have run a Memtest86+ for several cycles and there does not seem to be a problem with the RAM's. I have attached both the dump files (collected over the past few weeks) and a system health report. I would really appreciate if someone can have a look and interpret the results.

Thank you in advance for your time.

PS. Not sure if this makes a difference but the CPU is overclocked and running at 4.5GHz - However I have reverted back to the old settings for a few weeks and was still getting bombarded by BSOD's.

Leave the system at stock settings while we troubleshoot. It's possible that the overclock has damaged some component inside your system. So, we test at stock settings (and rule out hardware damage). If all tests well, then you can resume overclocking once the system is stable.

Your Intel SM Bus controller isn't installed. Please visit the Intel website to download/install these drivers: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...adType=Drivers

Only 60 updates after SP1 - most systems have 70 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get all available udpates

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Gigabyte ET6 (EasyTune6) is a known cause of BSOD's in some Win7 systems. Please uninstall this application immediately. Gigabyte Easy Saver utility has also been implicated in BSOD's in some Win7 systems - so you may want to uninstall it "just in case".

13 memory dumps dating from 27 Jan 2012 to the present
7 different BSOD error codes cited
    8 different causes blamed

This is most likely a hardware error - which includes:
    - overclocking
    - compatibility issues (some of my suggestions involve issues with this)
    - low-level driver problems (some of my suggestions involve issues with this)
    - malware

The majority of the memory dumps are from a period when the system wasn't overclocked - so this tends to rule the overclock out as a direct cause (but damage from it could be indirectly causing it)

In addition to the stuff mentioned above, let's remove or update the following older drivers and we'll see if that stabilizes the system. If not, then we'll start with hardware diagnostics (if you want to get a head start, the diags are listed here: Hardware Diags )

camdrv42.sys dates from 2007. It most likely belongs to your Philips SPC 900NC PC Camera. Please update the drivers. If no more recent update is available, please uninstall the drivers and remove the device from your system. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table

wdcsam64.sys dates from 2008. It most likely belongs to your Western Digital SCSI Arcitecture Model (SAM) WDM driver device/program. Please update the drivers. If no more recent update is available, please uninstall the drivers and remove the device/program from your system. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table

KeyMagic.sys dates from 2008. It most likely belongs to your Boot Camp 3.0, Mac OS X 10.6 device/program. Please update the drivers. If no more recent update is available, please uninstall the drivers and remove the device/program from your system. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table - KeyMagic.sys

KeyAgent.sys dates from 2008. It most likely belongs to your Apple keyagent Driver device/program. Please update the drivers. If no more recent update is available, please uninstall the drivers and remove the device/program from your system. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table - KeyAgent.sys

MacHALDriver.sys dates from 2008. It most likely belongs to your Apple Mac HAL Driver device/program. If no more recent update is available, please uninstall the drivers and remove the device/program from your system. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table

GVTDrv64.sys dates from 2006. It most likely belongs to your Gigabyte EasyTune6 driver (which I recommended that you remove earlier in this post). Please uninstall the program. More info on the driver here: Driver Reference Table

Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs:
3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
    - Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
    - Please either update the older drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
    - DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
    - Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
    - Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers.

    Thank you usasma.

I have followed your instructions and updated windows, removed daemon tools, easytune6 and updated the drivers you have mentioned. I will take your advice and revert the overclock back to stock values and test it for a few weeks.

Once again thank you for your time and promt reply, much appreciated.

    Bsod - memory_management

    Hi,

I have followed all the instructions and still getting BSOD's. Whocrashed points out to ntkrnlmp.exe - MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I have attached the new BSOD Dump & System file and the System Health Report. Please help

Did you run the hardware checks?
    • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

    • Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.

    • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
      1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
      2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
      3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
      4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working.

Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

Daemon Tools is still loading drivers. Did you run the sptd.sys removal tool?
If you have, then try this:
As for the dtsoftbus01.sys driver, let's try this:
    - Create a Startup Repair disk from the Start Menu...Maintenance folder (Win7)
    - Test the Startup Repair disk to ensure that you can get into System Restore.
    - Set a System Restore point
    - use the Autoruns program (that you downloaded for the reports) to search out any entries related to dtsoftbus01.sys and DISABLE them (DO NOT delete it!!!)
    - Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename dtsoftbus01.sys to dtsoftbus01.BAK
    - reboot the system (if it doesn't boot into Windows, use the Startup Repair disk to launch System Restore and restore the system to the restore point that you made previously).
    - Check in C:\Windows\System32\drivers to make sure that the System File Checker didn't insert another copy of the dtsoftbus01.sys driver into that folder.

Uninstall the Western Digital software, the drivers still date from 2008

Gigabyte Easy Saver is still present in the memory dumps (gdrv.sys) - please uninstall it also.

There is some sort of theme program running that uses uxpatch.sys. Please uninstall that. More info on this driver here: http://www.carrona.org/drivers/drive...id=uxpatch.sys

Juniper networks VPN software dates from 2009. Please uninstall it also.

Realtek Audio drivers date from 2009, please update them from the motherboard manufacturer's website

You have some sort of a remote control application that uses jumi.sys - it dates from 2009. Please remove it from your system. More info on the driver here: http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=jumi.sys

Finally, if all of those don't fix it - it's possible that an Internet Security application may be causing this. Unfortunately, these types of problems don't leave many clues, so we're just guessing here. The only sure way to tell is to temporarily remove the Internet Security application and see if that helps. Here's a suggested method for that:
    Anti-Virus Removal:
    Please do the following:
    - download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
    - uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
    - remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...080710133834EN
    - IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
    - check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.
Lastly, please run the free hardware diagnostics listed here: Hardware Diags
It's possible that this is a hardware problem, and these tests will help to rule that out. Please report back with the results of the tests as you complete them.

I ran the last 10 memory dumps, but they still had remnants of the older drivers noted in them - so I reran just the last 2. I believe that they are fairly representative of your situation. (the last 10 contained 8-STOP 0x1A's, 1-STOP 0x24, and 1-STOP 0x3B)

Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

I have re-installed a fresh copy of windows 7 as the BSOD's have been occuring more frequently, however this has not solved the issue and im getting more BSOD's then before. I have installed the minimum amount of drivers and uninstalled and re-installed Norton internet security twice- thinking this might perhaps solve the srtsp64.sys issue. I have run a memtest 86+ for 8 cycles but it seems the memory is ok.

Please help as it's now getting to a point in which im physically thinking of destroying the machine. I have spent a small fortune putting this machine together and it has been nothing but trouble since day one

    Thank you

Have you tried running with one memory module at a time? Memtest86+ is not foolproof, and better testing can be done just by seeing if one module provides stability where another will not. Make sure to follow my ESD safety steps from my previous post when swapping modules. You could even run two modules at a time if you want.

I did prior to installing a fresh copy of windows and since then it hasn't been overclocked, it is running on stock settings. I have swapped the RAM from a different machine and they were fine for 2 weeks before i decided to replace them back, however I was still getting blue screens with the new RAM in my PC. I really am clueless on this one
