For the Corsair XMS2 2X4GB pc2 6400 you should use 5 5 5 18 and 1.9 volts for that memory. I would do that in bios manually to make sure those settings are correct.

Were you able to run Vista stable before moving to Win7?
    ok thanks :)

i didnt have Vista installed i installed windows 7 stright on it as soon as i built it

the only other OS i have is a 32 bit Version of Windows Xp proffessional would you advise me to install that ?

and isnt there anything i can do to try and stop the problem pesuming that my system is actualy stable ?

i mean its ok when its running i can have it on for ages and do what ever i want on it and nothing happens its just when im starting up my computer or the first 30 seconds of actualy getting passed the windows login screen when it sometimes Bsod or just crashes then it takes me a couple of restarts to get back on again
oh and i keep getting a continuous beeping noise from my tower sometimes on start up and nothing happens the screens just balck so i restart
its only just started doing this ... :/

    hope u can help :)

...The main problem was when i started my computer it would come on and sometimes crash at the Motherboard screen (where it says press Del to enter Bios etc)...

The real clue is the freeze during POST. This likely not a Windows problem. You could perform a number of tests to determine the cause, or you could return the machine while it is still under warranty.

Well, I guess we do not need any more mini-dumps.

I said this... Usually it's just memory settings or memory timings or other voltages not being adjusted properly will cause these types of problems on a new system. You can't just assume that the Auto settings are correct. Was your system running Vista before you installed Win7?

And the Windows site said this... This behavior can occur if either one of the following conditions is true:
    • There are incorrect settings in the computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) configuration.

      -or-
    • One or more of the random access memory (RAM) modules that is installed on the computer is faulty.
Sound familior? It seems Windows logic is inline with my own. I suggest that you test the memory or remove one stick at a time until the problem Dimm is found. Although at this point I'm not sure if you have attempted to do what I asked in the first post.

You can test your memory with this. MemTest for Windows Download Page
