    Computer keeps freezing

    My computer keeps freezing about one to two minutes after I turn it on. It doesn't matter what I'm doing it freezes. It has frozen while in regualr start up, safe mode, advanced boot options. The computer is only 3 weeks old and no problems before today. Please help.

    sbelling,
    Welcome to SF and before the group dives in and starts you would do us all a big favor and fill in your spec's.

    As well it's helpful to give details on when the last proper functioning date occurred and what activities can you recall did you perform or sites you visited when this issue began. As much details will help and also what anti-virus programs are you running, have installed. Also have you tried starting your system in safe mode? What happens when you try that?

    alright I tried and added some specs, i dont know a whole lot about computers. I used my computer today the main thing I remember is windows did an update this afternoon. I did try and use safe mode but it would freeze too. When I did one start up it recomended to fix my computer and even while that was running it froze.

    and I run the windows anti virus

    There are many reasons why a PC " behaves" this way.

    These annoying " gliches" may be caused by an overloaded hard drive, overworked CPU,
    Malware,
    running 2 AV 's,
    unnecessary data,
    Browser addons or you may have unnecessary programs running in the background etc....

    * Did your computer come preloaded with Anti Virus Software?
    If so what was it & how did you remove it?

    * Please list ALL of your Current Security software.

    * Have you used a Registry Cleaner/optimiser?

    * Run SFC Option 2.
    Let us know the results at the end.

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
