5 BSODs in one week, most when idle

I have had 5 BSODs in the past week, 2 today in fact. Most of the time the computer is idle when it BSODs, sometimes I will just boot it, log in, and then after 10 min. or so it will BSOD, so I don't know of any reliable trigger.

I am using Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit on my Dell Dimension 1525 that I purchased in August 2008. It came with Vista Ultimate 32-bit and I installed this Windows 7 64 in May 2010 I believe.

Attached is the info described in the sticky at the top of the forum.

Any help is greatly appreciated and am willing to provide any information requested that would help with the investigation.

    Thanks!

Hello CoreyB, welcome to SevenForums. In a few dumps you have attached I noticed you have Avast installed, especially in your drivers list. Avast in Windows 7 is known for causing issues.

Remove Avast and install Microsoft Security Essentials for diagnostic purposes. Don't worry, if it's Avast, I'll help you find a good alternative.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have had avast installed since I installed Windows 7 in May 2010 and have not had this consistent BSOD problems. avast hasn't had any recent program updates that would be a kind of clear trigger. I'm just a little reluctant to uninstall an a/v and install a different one because a/v's are sometimes hard to get completely rid of.

Is there any sort of analysis that can be done to support the theory that avast is the cause of my BSODs?

    Thanks!
