Laptops freezes windows\system32\DRIVER\AtiPcie64.sys

Apologies new to this forum, so may have posted incorrectly. My sons laptop freezes part way through start up, shortly after windows logo has appeared, remains like this for few minutes befoe shutting down. Have tried safeboot and starts until file windows\system32\DRIVER\AtiPcie64.sys is reached when it freezes again. I've found some software called Farbar Recovery Scan Tool which has given me a large text file.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks Tony

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration (advanced) through the Advanced Boot Options menu?

What about System Restore OPTION TWO?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I have a very similar problem regarding atipcie64.sys

If needed I'll start a new thread - I'll also go do the "BSOD - Posting Instructions".

This was only the 2nd post I saw that mentioned the atipcie64.sys boot issue.
The other one is here.

One day during normal use - I think I was web browsing in Chrome at the time - my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 just blue screened and rebooted on me. And then never made it past the Windows loading screen. It reboots into the "Windows failed to load" screen, where I can select Safe Mode, Load Last Known Good Configuration, Etc.

I have ran Windows System Repair, scannow, chkdsk, etc., until I was blue in the face - and it did manage to fix some bad sectors, corrupt files, and so on, however it was not able to repair completely to bootup into Windows or Safe Mode. I tried "Last Known" and "Restore", but that didn't work; my system restore points appear to be missing. Using System Repair it is able to detect my OS [though it lists it under H: instead of C:] and I am able to use Command Console to navigate in the Volume and DIR lists. The HDD spins up fine when connected to another computer, also.

During Windows 7 startup (normal or safe mode) it reaches the atipcie64.sys file, stops and reboots. I have all the notes at home (I'm on the road at the moment) and can fill in more info, like error codes, later.

Nothing I have done, or that I have found suggestions on, has been able to repair it. Although, I feel that there is something I'm just missing or not thinking of, about exactly what the cause is or what to do about it.

I would like to at least repair and recover my system if possible. Any assistance would be great.

Go through the steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot and post back if you need help as you proceed. If you need further help after going through that tutorial, I would suggest starting a new thread and outlining the steps tried in that tutorial and giving specific information about the problem again.
