DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE 0x0000009f (While Playing GTA-IV)

I got a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error with bug code 0x0000009f. I have changed to a SSD for my main drive (was working on a 500 GB segate before perfectly but wanted an upgrade) with a 750gb wd black as my secondary. Also I get this error only when installing (for first time) or playing GTA-IV. The first BSOD out of the two I got was when I had the install hang up so I tried to quit the process then it hit the blue screen right there. The second one was during game play.

HP Pavilion dv7 4071nr
Windows 7 Home Premium (not SP1)
Intel Core i7-Q720
ATI Radeon HD 5650 Graphics w/cataylst 12.1 and 8.930.0.0 driver
OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD w/ 2.15 firmware
WDC Scorpio Black 750GB storage drive
Gskill 2x4GB 1333 Ram
Intel Wifi Link 1000BGN w/ 14.3.0.6 driver
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller w/ 7.50.1123.2011 driver

If you need any more information let me know, this was just an SSD upgrade and I "restored" my Recovery Discs onto the SSD for the operating system. Thanks for any help!

Okay so I upgraded driver (actually downgraded driver but I will explain) to the latest listed on Intel's site. I have a drivers site that I use for my latest drivers and actually had a newer driver installed then published by Intel so thinking that was my problem. Drivers Site I use... I ended up having to completely uninstall the driver because after installing over the new driver and trying to restart cause another BSOD. After uninstall it installed automatically to the default one where I upgraded to the latest driver version 10.8.0.1003 instead of the 11.0.0.1032 that the driver site had. I haven't had any BSOD's yet but they don't happen usually under normal use, only when gaming or in the last case when trying to restart after messing with that driver. (Same BSOD as before DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE)

the only place you should be getting the driver is from the mfr.

I know but if you look closely at this website I linked above the links to the downloads are all HP ftp stuff or the device manufacture's websites. This guy is just linking updates as they come but apparently one got linked before it made the Intel site (must be in either beta stage or I don't know what) Anyways thanks for all the help so far and if I have any more BSOD's I will let you know.

Hello, I'm new here and I'd like some help please. Recently I've been having an issue where I can't shut down my PC without seeing a blue screen. I'd click 'shut down,' and it would stay stuck on 'Shutting Down' for roughly 5-10 minutes and then switch to a blue screen. The results of the first...

Hi, I only ever get this BSOD when I run a backup to a Toshiba 1TB external USB drive. The script is set to shut down the PC when it has finished backing up. Mostly that works fine, but, maybe 20% of the time, I come back to find this BSOD, which occurs at shutdown, not during the running of the...

Hello the last 3 BSOD's have all been caused by the same service or driver. I don't know which program is the troubleshooter but I'd like to find out as you might imagine. :p I'm also curious to find out what is causing the 0x0000003b error.
