BSOD while watching streams.

My pc after 2 months of stability started crashing with no stop, mostly when i was watching Dota 2 streams. I had similar problems back then which a AMD update solved.

It's a Windows 7 64bit 5 month old rig. I have an OEM version of Windows, installed when the pc was built.

Right now after one hour of crashing it runs smoothly. I updated it (many Framework updates) and re-installed Drivers. The error report attached is the same before and after the updates/re-install.

* Also remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

AFTER you have done what JMH suggests please do the following

Kaspersky is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Hi, I thought I replied but somehow my post didn't make it to the forums. Maybe I wasn't logged in..

I did all that. Antimalware didn't detect anything and uninstalled Alcochol. I updated my system and generally took care of it. I have Kaspersky anti virus but it worked fine until yesterday.


The problem was fixed, until today when my pc re-started without a bsod the moment I tried to watch a video on youtube. Windows found some new updates on framework and I wonder if this has to do with anything

If no BSODS please upload your event viewer logs

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:


Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

I thought that may be the case. Also there was the same error about Ati tools in every restart. Running in safe mode, Windows found an error with my gpu drivers, so I re-installed them from scratch and deleted ATI tools driver once and for all..

If you meant something else from what I wrote, which is a speculation, I will gladly accept your help
