I've been having random BSOD which don't seem to be triggered by any particular action on my behalf. I have tested all hardware and memory and it all checks out O.K.

Thank you in advance for your troubleshooting help with this matter. I'm up against a wall with this one and could use some help.

No DMPs included in upload

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Several issues here.

First old drivers from as far back as 2005 need to be updated.

Second--Asacpi.sys

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

Third driver verified cause ware related to tcpipreg.sys. Part of the OS. Since you have already updated to SP-1, I would run a system file check.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have updated the system as referenced here and confirmed Asacpi.sys is correct (which it was) and run a system file check which returned no errors.

I still get a BSOD however and attached the latest dump file. The system is somewhat stable but when I activate "verifier" and restart, the BSOD happens within 1-2 minutes of my desktop appearing.

When the BSOD appears it's a Stop: 0x000000c4 error.
