Multiple BSOD, kmode_exception, page_fault, and more.

Hello. First of all, I'm sorry, I really hate to register somewhere just to find solutions but this time I can't solve it by myself, and I've been trying hard.

Well, my problem. My father bought a new laptop and I received the old one but knowing that it suffered from random BSOD from time to time. No problem, I thought, I can solve it. Wrong.

    Code:
Windows 7 Professional x64 retail, legit, no hacks or loaders. Service Pack 1. Updated.
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz
    3GB RAM
    Intel 965 graphic card
It's a fresh installation, with up-to-date drivers and running Windows Security Essentials. I even activated W7 Driver Verifier and waited for the unevitable BSOD, as it was suggested in many threads here.

ntoskrnl.exe is crashing all the time, but this can be caused by many things and that's what I want to know. The "Bug check string" changes from time to time though: irql_not_less_or_equal, page_fault_in_non_paged_area, kmode_exception_not_handled and system_service_exception.

I suspect it's a HD related problem, but I am no expert so I need help localizing it. It's everything right? I hope I haven't messed up with the attached dump files or something.

    Sorry for my English :)

Don't worry about your English - it's better than mine, and I only speak English! :)

The drivers for your Texas Instruments Media Card Reader aren't installed. Get these drivers from the PC Manufacturer's support website.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems due to the sptd.sys driver.
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

ntoskrnl.exe is the kernel (core) of the operating system. If it was to blame you'd be experiencing many problems other than the occasional BSOD. Usually it's problems with 3rd party drivers that are most common - followed by hardware problems, and then Windows problems.

Your drivers are rather old for a brand new Win7 installation. If you got them from the laptop manufacturer's website, then I'd say that they were good enough for our purposes (in this situation). If not, post back and we'll see about updating them as needed.

The last memory dumps is a Driver Verifier enabled memory dump and it blames hardware. The other memory dumps are also suggestive of a hardware problem also. FYI - a problem like this can also be due to compatibility issues (such as the Daemon Tools), low-level driver problems, or even malware).

I'd suggest starting out with the free diagnostics on this page: Hardware Diags
Please inform us of the results of the first 3 before proceeding on with the rest of the tests.

Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

I know for a fact that Daemon is not causing the BSOD, as the first one I got it while windows update tried to download SP1, before I installed anything. It seems I didn't install the card reader driver, now it's solved. Also upgraded the modem driver and trying to find newer drivers for the ethernet adapter. Acer is not helping here, this TravelMate 5720 is losing support it seems.

I'm open to any suggestion. With 3GB of RAM I don't benefit from x64 too much so I might try installing 32 bit OS, or even try with a linux partition and see if BSOD happens there. Crashes happen more likely when I'm using the browser, watching a flash video specially (could be coincidence). I've tried a long gaming session (5 hours of Civilization 4) and no BSOD, the moment I exit and start the browser, it happens.

So the last one points to a hardware failure, could it be all because a bad HD hardware, the disk itself or the SATA connection?. Will upload any further BSOD now that the driver verifier is activated. Thanks for the early support.

I'd suspect hardware failure as the most likely thing here. Removing Daemon Tools and the sptd.sys driver is important also - as it can mimic hardware problems.

No need for more Driver Verifier as it doesn't point to anything but hardware.

Run first 3 hardware diags here: Hardware Diags
They are the most likely to point to an issue.

I had another BSOD yesterday while the disk inspecting tool from Western Digital was running. I also tried changing the hard disk for a fairly new one and installing fresh, but I got BSOD again after a few hours, nothing installed but windows updates. So, it's either a really serious driver problem or I have faulty hardware somewhere between the SATA adapter to the motherboad.

Uploaded the dump. I hoped I could solve this but it seems my laptop is broken Linux is going strong though, it should get BSOD too if it were a hardware fault, no?

I'm not familiar with Linux and have no real experience with it

Verifier is still running. Please turn it off as it unnecessarily complicates the issue.

When did you reinstall? This set of reports shows the same OS running since at least the 17th.

Have you run the other 2 diagnostic tests that I suggested? The memory test and the anti-malware?
If they all pass, then try the rest of the tests on that page.
Post back with the results and we can try even more diagnostics.
