Windows won't boot no matter what I try.
Hey everyone,
I have been searching the past few days for a solution to this problem and everything I've tried has come up empty so I'm reaching out for some specific help. Here's my story:
I did a clean computer build a few months ago and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit at the time. It has been running just fine until very recently, even though I have not installed anything new in quite some time.
When I boot up normally-it hangs on the "Starting windows" screen with the logo indefinitely, and the HDD indicator light stays lit up, not flashing.
When I boot up in safe mode-it stops at classPNP.sys (a common stopping point, I guess?) and never goes any further.
When I try to boot from CD to repair-it just kicks me to "Starting windows" screen again.
When I try to repair from advanced boot options-it takes me to a black screen with the cursor.
I have had exactly 2 instances of it crashing and shutting down, and some hanging on shut down, but this is new. I figure I need to do some serious registry fixing, I just need to get there. If someone could offer some guidance I would be so grateful, as I work on that PC.
If you need any more information I will be happy to provide what I can.
Edit: In what appears to be a stroke of luck, it booted up. I downloaded and ran Free Windows Registry Repair, and haven't done anything else. But I am booted up and won't shut down for now.
