64bit Windows Update with multiple errors
hi,
did a clean install of 64bit Pro edition on a custom built box with Intel w/station board & RAID1 mirror. All was ok. However, during operation, number of things are happening:
* cannot run Windows Update (can go to CPanel, once I click WU, the 'doughnut' keeps on spinning. Tried deleting relevant cached folders for WU to recreate but still the same issue...cannot access WU screen.
* the only way to exit from 'doughnut' is to end from taskmgr (where it says WU is running); ending task this way 'crashes' Explorer.
* as such there are applications that require to pre-install .net framework cannot proceed as it is relying on Windows Update. WU service is started; if somehow Windows Update menu opens up, it has a message 'reboot computer as WU has never been run on this pc with big red X'
* The Network icon shows 'X' in tray however it's connected to Internet & LAN
* Did register with genuine OEM key and Windows is successfully activated (evident from System Information page) however there's frequent message saying 'activate now' as you are not running genuine Windows, trial to expire.
Because have set this pc as file sharing, am dreading to re-install OS as some applications installed are business critical.
any suggestions would be really helpful.
thanx.
Eddie
